How we started
Pam Schmitt, licensed alcohol and drug counselor and owner of Faith Family Recovery Center for 14 years, saw the need for sober housing in Hastings Minnesota. She worked hard with volunteers to open the nonprofit Spirit Recovery Center in 2011. She opened the first house the same year and a second house was added in 2013. Both of these houses are currently for men but she hopes to add a woman's house in the near future.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide, faith based, structured, affordable, clean and sober housing for adults struggling with Chemical Dependency.
Our Philosophy
We believe that sober living provides the structure and boundaries necessary to help those in early recovery avoid relapse. Studies have shown that people that either participate in a long-term treatment program or those that elect to live in sober housing are much less likely to relapse. We are faith based, which means we believe in a higher power which teaches us that people have the capacity to achieve change. Our faith teaches us to believe in ourselves, to trust life and to allow others to help us change.
